Backwater of Atka

A 107-hectare Ox Bow lake on the right hand bank of the Tisza river.   It can be reached from Szeged on main road number 47, driving towards Hodmezovasarhely, turning left before the Tisza-bridge of Algyd. On the surfaced flood-prevention dam, after 6 kilometres the visitor arrives at the southern end of the lake. The lake is neariy 10 kilometres long, with an average width of 140 meters and a depth varying between 1 and 10 meters.

Stock of fish: besides the excellent stock of grass carp and carp (regularly appearing on the official toplist of Hungarian angling) all sorts of white fish, pikeperch, pike, eel and Wels catfish.

The county association and "Szegedi Hermann Otto', Angling Association have guest-houses on the banks of the lake.

Reservoir of "Maty-er'

A 40-hectare reservoir. It can be approached on road E5 driving towards Belgrad, about 4 kilometres from Szeged the lake is visible on the right side of the road. The main purpose of the reservoir is the service of watersports, therefore, fishing is only allowed from the side near the city.  Here You can find the rowing track named after Count lstvan Szechenyi, the lake is a slo a famous match fishing water.  Competitions, are regularly held here. It is also the svenue of numerous national competitions, the world championships were also staged here.

Stock of fish: all sorts of white fish, carp, grass carp, pikeperch, caffish.

Other opportunities: sightseeing in Szeged (museums, monuments, theatre etc.), open summer festivals, international motorboat and rowing championships.

Backwater of Martely

46-hectare, situated on the outskirts of the village of Martoly, 6 kilometres from Hodmezovasarhely. The backwater and the surrounding lands form a landscape-protection area which is perhaps the most picturesque area in the region of the Jisza. There is a holiday resort at the southern end of the lake adjacent to the village, where guesthouses, accommodation and boat renting await guests.
