The Koros river and its  backwaters

The river is divided into areas for use by anglers and fishermen.

Here we will only deal with areas used by anglers.

The tenant of these areas is "Korosvideki Horgasz Egyesuletek" Angling Association (5600 Beke'scsaba, Bajza u. 11. )

These water areas include the following;

Harmas-Koros (40-50 fmkm), Harmas-Koros from the bridge in Gyoma to the junction of  Sebes-Koros and Kettos-Koros, Kettos-Koros from the dam of Bekes to the junction or Feher-Koros and Fekete-Koros from the mouth of the Romanian border. Sebes-koros from the bridge at Fokkoz to the dam of korosladany "Bekesszentandrasi Siratoi" dead bed, "Gyomai Siratoi" Ox Bow, "Danzugi” Ox Bow of Gyoma, "Feihalmi" backwater of Csardaszallas.

Other waters:

Fas Lake in Bekescsaba,

Oroshazi:  Lakes (Gyoparosi, Kristaly and  Homokbanya).

The areas of the river open to anglers, which covers nearly 500 hectares, provides fantastic opportunities for lovers of river fishing.  The medows of the rivers and the beaches of the Ox Bow lakes provide a beautiful natural environment for anglers and their families to enjoy. The vegetation and the stock of fish are rich in both the Ox bows and lakes.

In the river "Korosi nyurga" carp, grass carp, Wels catfish, pikeperch, pike and all sorts of whitefish abound. In the Ox Bows and lakes carp, of the fast growing fish farm stock, grass carp,  pike, pikeperch, all sorts of whitefish, tench and crucian are the most commonly found species. Most of the water areas can be approached on well surfaced roads, except for the backwaters of Danzug and Felhalom, which, being accessible on unpaved roads are not recommended in rainy weather

Regional tickets for a year a week or a day are sold at the association offices, its member societies and in some regions, in tackle shops. The association provides detailed information on the published phone number about obtaining regional permissions, their prices, and about accommodation near the water.

We recommend the neighbourhood of the Dam of Bekesszentandras and the lower and upper reach of Harmas-Koros.
