BACS-KISKUN COUNTY

Main irrigation canal of Kiskunsag

303 hectares. It is the most significant, most frequented canal, with the best stock of fish in Hungary. It branches of from the Danube branch of Rackeve above the lockgate of Tass and joins the Main Canal of Dunavolgye on the confines of Akaszto. It can be approached from roads number 51, 52 and 53 crossing the canal. Its flow is slow or still.

Stock of fish: carp, grass carp, bream, all sorts of white fish, tench, pike, pikeperch, Wels catfish.

Licence can usually be bought in the villages in the environs of the canal.

Canal of Fuzvolgy

206 hectares. It branches out from the Main canal of Kiskunsag at the Iockgate of Szalkszentmarton. The road number 52 crosses it in Solt.

Backwater at the Tisza at Szikra

The 68-hectare backwater is near the village of Lakitelek, to be approached by turning off the main road number 44 at the 25th kilometre.

Stock of fish: carp, all sorts of white fish, pikeperch, pike, Wels catfish.

Camping and other kinds of accommodation, as well as meals and shop on the spot.

Lake Of Szelid

The 78-hectare lake is a nature conservation area. It is lined by reeds and is 5 kilometres long, it used to be a branch of the Danube. It can be approached by turning off the main road number 51 at Dunapataj.

Stock of fish: carp and pikeperch, grass carp, bream, crucian , also well known for its big Wels catfish.

Licence can be obtained in Dunapataj at the Angling Association (Nefeleics utca 19) and in the anglers' shop, and in high season at the anglers lodhge on the shore.

Beside the lake there is hotel, a camping with a snack bar, accommodation is also possible at the anglers lodge where boats can also be rented. There are separate renting places for boats and water bicycles.

The town of Kalocsa is 14 kilometres away, with museums, monuments and a folkart house.
